CANDIDATE STATEMENT:

“After three years as Financial Director, I believe the ASID FS President Elect position is an ideal step for me to assist our new President lead the chapter. This uniquely rewarding experience has provided a current understanding of the business side of the chapter and the overall strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that the chapter has faced since 2019 and will be dealing with through 2025.

Fortunately, Florida represents a dynamic market for interior designers with 38% employment increases over 2020, putting the state among the top 5 highest employed and the top 5 highest concentrated states of interior designers. My greatest interest in this role is to help reverse membership declines by taking advantage of this dynamic market through strategic retention and recruitment initiatives. This requires a fully engaged board, which will be a leadership priority as well. My board performance has demonstrated a commitment to teamwork and appreciation of individual board members’ contributions. The ASID FS Education Fund is an example of the tireless team effort to provide educational benefits to all members and students. We plan for a 3rd quarter launch after a final HQ review.

I endeavor to bring a renewed relevancy of ASID FS to a design community of millennials, more experienced designers and industry partners. By relevancy, it’s critical to provide unique, experiential opportunities that membership would be unable to attain alternatively without their ASID FS affiliation.

The social and networking traditions that have always been a part of the chapter’s long legacy were certainly hurt by COVID. However, we can continue to build upon the successful efforts of our current President and expand this tradition on both coasts.

I am grateful for the opportunity of meeting/working with the board and membership in furthering ASID goals. I look forward to continuing this opportunity in FY-2024.”
