Our very own Chapter Student Representative Antonio Rodriguez was a finalist in the ASID Student Portfolio Competition. The ASID Student Portfolio Competition (SPC) generates the best collection of student design projects in the nation. Submissions were evaluated on conceptual thought, content of work submitted, and the student’s record of achievement.
The work he did on our most recent student career day was phenomenal both in creativity and programming. It’s been a pleasure having Antonio on the board serving as the chapter’s Student Representative. He’s been an asset to the Florida South Chapter board and will be sorely missed. We wish him success upon graduation!
As a third culture kid, growing up in five different countries, Antonio has always been exposed to a high variety of cultures and beliefs. This upbringing was the catalyst to his interest in human behavior today, specifically in the way people inhabit spaces. At a young age, he found an interest in film and decided to pursue a degree in production design from the South African School for the Creative Economy. However, he found that creating sets for films did not quite fulfill his passion for interiors as they were not “real” and did not have a prolonged behavioral effect on the people that inhabited such space. In 2018, he moved to Miami, the international hub of the state of Florida. Here, he enrolled for an Interior Design Bachelors at the Miami International University of Art & Design. He is now nearing graduation and has found that his passion remains the same, yet stronger. To design appealing interiors, with the human experience at the beginning of the design process.
