CANDIDATE STATEMENT:

My goal as professional development would be empowering interior designers through the chapter to excel in their profession. Strengthening the chapter's relationship with the design community through chapter events & as a resource of knowledge for designers. Helping designers who are starting their careers to work on their professional attributes to give them an edge over their peers. (NCIDQ, CEUs,) Using ASID standards & ethics to enable designers to have careers at top of their field. My outline for my plan of action is below.

I. Develop unique professional development experiences that target Millennials & Gen Z.

  1. Millennials & Gen Z are committed to social good & making the world a better place, hence, sustainable/eco-friendly design events and wellness and well-being events/seminars are of high interest among these groups.
  2. Examples of events for consideration:
    1.  Sustainable design wine & cheese seminar sponsored by Kravet Textiles.
    2. Wellness/well-being spa seminar sponsored by Kohler & Sephora.

II. Provide new CEUs to members that focus on latest trends in interior design practice.

  1. Cross-specialty design: how to blend techniques and practices from residential and commercial to meet today’s clients.
  2. Green washing: what it is and how to share this with clients.
  3. Artificial intelligence & new technologies: how to apply to the way your clients live, work & play & incorporate to business practices.

III. Offer programs through by the local chapter to help build tomorrow’s interior designers.

  1. High school pre-college events/mentorships.
  1. College student scholarships/mentorships/coordination with student rep/student ASID chapter.
