Candidate Statement:
 
Eric Alayón began his design career in Philadelphia, when he enrolled in the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Eric graduated from AIPH, Suma Cum Laude with Bachelor degree in Interior Design. He perfected his craft working for some of Philadelphia’s top design firms and industry partners prior to opening his firm, Interior Elements Design LLC.
 
Eric, while he may be a recent transplant to the area, having just relocated to Miami in the fall of 2018, brings with him a wealth of experience from years of continued involvement in ASID and the Interior Design community in variety of sectors.
 
Eric has sat on the ASID Pennsylvania East board in various capacities in previous years and intends to utilize his passion for design and business acumen from the North East to his new role serving as President Elect of the South Florida Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers.

Candidate Statement:

If selected as a chapter leader to the ASID Florida South Chapter the key goals I would purpose are:

  • Build relationships to better reflect a diverse design community.
  • Encourage students especially of diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in design.
  • Promote pathway for industry professionals to earn continuing education.
Action Plan
  • Network and build stronger and more diverse relationships to solve problems that we have in common.
  • Participate in career fairs and help organize Q and A panel discussions to promote the profession.
  • Reengage the design community to seek continual growth in current position or advancement within the industry.

Candidate Statement:
 
After I have a better understanding of how the board works, I would set out to ensure existing members have interactive and ample opportunities to be more involved. Secondly, I would set out to assist in growing our numbers of new members.
 
I believe both can be achieved by simply analyzing what ideas worked in the past, collaborate with my peers to find new and exciting ways to get our South Chapter more involved.
